Neuromodulators are prescription medications formulated with botulinum toxin commercially available as Botox, Dysport, Xeomin or Jeuveau.  Wrinkle relaxing injections effortlessly eliminate early fine lines by blocking nerve signals and stunting muscle movement without inhibiting facial expression. This allows the overlying skin to lay more flat and smooth, reducing the appearance of fine lines for a more fresh-faced, youthful appearance. When used appropriately, botulinum toxin injections are an overwhelmingly safe method for improving cosmetic defects that are caused or exacerbated by muscle contraction, such as frown lines. The effects of botulinum toxin are transient; muscular function typically returns to baseline within a few months. 

Botox, and Dysport are used to relax muscles of facial expressions and are effective in reducing the wrinkles formed due to our expressions while we are eganged in conversation such as:

• Frown lines, crow’s feet, inquisitive lines on the forehead
• Bunny lines on the nose
• Tiny lines around the mouth, smokers lip lines
• Wrinkles on the chin & chin puckering 
• Droopy nose tip

BOTOX® neck band treatment and Botox neck wrinkle or “necklace line” treatment involves Botox injection into the vertical platysmal bands or neck bands, and into the horizontal neck wrinkles or “necklace lines”. Both treatments are safe in the hands of an experienced injector and very effective in temporary reduction of neck bands and neck wrinkles for a smoother and more youthful neck.

The Botox platysmal band treatment requires a touch up every 8-10 weeks. The Botox necklace line treatment requires a touch up every 4-5 months.

A small amount of BOTOX® is injected into the muscles that elevate the upper lip to soften the upper lip elevation. As a result, the upper lip does not rise too high and less gum tissue is exposed. The result is a natural-looking smile with less gum tissue exposure. Your facial expressions do not change with a small amount of BOTOX®. 

The treatment needs to be repeated every 4-6 months. BOTOX® gummy smile reduction is considered an advanced BOTOX® injection technique and is done by Dr. Rafi at FaceLine Aesthetics. 

The cost of BOTOX® gummy smile reduction is $250 and includes an initial visit with evaluation of your gummy smile, a treatment plan, a follow-up visit within 2 weeks with touch up at the follow-up visit if needed for adequate response.  Individual results may vary.

 Jaw reduction injections involves virtually painless injections of Botox directly into the masseter muscle located near the back of the jaw. The Botox slowly and gently reduce the size of the masseter muscle, which in turn reduces the appearance of a strong and square jawline resulting in a more feminine appearance. 

 Jaw reduction treatment has become most common among certain groups of Asians and also people with large jaw muscles from teeth grinding or habitual use of chewing gum. 

BOTOX®  Injections into the masseter muscle is considered an advanced injection technique and are done by Dr. Rafi at FaceLine Aesthetics.  In about 4 weeks one can begin to see the results and the effects may persist for 6-12 months, far greater than Botox for wrinkles.  

The cost of BOTOX® jaw reduction is $500 which includes initial evaluation, a treatment plan, a follow-up visit within 2 weeks with touch up for a total of 50 units of BOTOX®  for a single treatment. Additional BOTOX® is needed in some individuals with very strong masseter muscle. 

Botox has been FDA-approved for people who sweat excessively from their armpits (severe primary axillary hyperhidrosis). It may also be used “off-label” to reduce sweating in other areas, such as the hands, feet, and face.

Off-label use refers to using a medication for something other than what it was approved to treat. In this case, it means that Botox hasn’t gone through the same amount of rigorous testing to confirm its effectiveness for treating excessive sweating in other areas of the body.

The amount of Botox injected for excessive underarm and hand sweating depends on the size of the area treated and the severity of sweating. The results last about 6 months and the treatment needs to be repeated every 5-6 months to maintain results.

This is an off-label use of Botox (botulinum toxin type-A, Allergan) as an unconventional and relatively noninvasive solution for patients with lacrimal-gland mediated tear disorders. Botox injection in the lacrimal gland has led to high success rates in improving lacrimal outflow obstruction in elderly patients, in poor surgical candidates or in those unwilling to have surgery. 

The agent can also reduce tear drainage by injection into the medial lower eyelid near the punctum. Injections used for dry eye treatment cause reduction in lacrimal drainage function by paralyzing the orbicularis oculi muscle, decreasing blinking and the lacrimal pump.
